Joint production by Baldwin and Westinghouse produced this 1933 P5a electric boxcab seen here running freight. Specs - 72" drivers, engine weight of 392,000 lb, power supply of 11kV AC @ 25 Hz catenary, sic 625hp AC traction motors plus four 325hp motors on the trucks. Number 4700 is preserved in the Museum of Transportation in Kirkwood, MO. Unknown photographer and the date is approximate. |
