Here is a cleaned up verson although it doesn't add much more detail than the original sepia colored photo. The cab cover was added for this 1934 display. It is the only surviving locomotive from the Natchez & Hamburg RR in Mississippi. According to the Museum website, this loco was originally salvaged by James Hoskins of Brookhaven, MS, and donated to the Illinois Certral for the Chicago Columbian Exposition in 1893 and ran under its own power to reach Chicago. It was then donated to the Museum in 1938 after its appearance in the 1934 Worldl's Fair. Quite a unique piece of railroading history. |
