| Missouri–Kansas–Texas Railroad (reporting mark MKT) AS16M 138 at Kansas City, Kansas on August 15, 1965, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Built in October 1951 as MKT AS16 1583 (c/n 75435) it was sent to EMD during 1959-60 and re-powered (on EMD Order 8553) with a 567C prime mover and the Baldwin long hood replaced with a GP9 hood. The original Westinghouse electrical equipment was retained, thus this unit was rated at 1500 horsepower. This is the rear of the locomotive. |
