Modern crossing signals where no tracks exist anymore. About 4 miles of former ACL trackage at the end of the Abbeville AL branch has been taken up. This line is now operated by the Bayline, A GWI unit. The last customer in Abbeville was a chip mill that shipped out a car or two of chips a week. They closed several years ago and no industry has located on this portion of the line. The chip mill just outside of town is still very active and sees service Monday through Friday and sometimes on the weekends. |
