The south (originally northwest) and west (originally northeast) walls of the second C&NW depot at Clintonville (originally Pigeon), WI, on 13 Sep. '20. It was constructed in the Craftsman style in 1914 at a cost of $2,500. C&NW was ordered to replace the original, ca. 1878, depot after the city lodged a complaint with the Railroad Commission of Wis. that it was inadequate for the needs of the growing community. The new depot was built in the same spot as the old depot, on the north side of the main line, about 150 ft. east of Main St. (formerly New London St.), south of 5th St. (formerly 11th St., formerly Young St.), on the north side of what would be E. 4th St. (formerly Guernsey St., formerly Dorr St.) if it extended east of Main St. The depot closed in 1976. The site is currently the parking lot on the north side of a wonderful Walgreens. The depot has been turned approximately 115 degrees counterclockwise from its original orientation and moved approximately 300 feet southeast of its original location. It is currently occupied by KerberRose CPAs. |
